How do I Create A Verbal Brand?

We live in a visual world.
Whenever you think about a brand many just think of the icon.

The Nike swoosh.
The McDonald’s arches.

But in my opinion, what’s more important than how people see your brand is how they talk about your brand.

People talking about your brand in a consistent way can only begin in one place - how you talk about your brand.

Do you define your brand the same way every time someone asks about it?
Is what your website says about your brand consistent with your social media?
Does everyone who works at your company define your brand the same way?

If you aren’t consistently talking about yourself, then no one else will either.

So how do we do that?

It’s a relatively simple process done in three steps.

Step 1: Define the problem you solve

While you may offer many services, or sell many products, I’d be willing to bet all of those center around one specific problem. What is that problem?

Being known for solving a problem is the best way to stay at the top of people’s minds.

Step 2: Define how you solve that problem

It’s important to be able to tell others the steps you take, the process you use, the ways you solve the problem your company revolves around.

Whether it’s through products, software, or services, you can describe how you solve the problem.

Step 3: Define the end result

After you’ve told people about the problem and then how you solve it, take a moment and let people know what life will be like after they do business with you.

I’d hope after someone buys from you they are in “a better place.” Paint a vision of what that better place looks like with words. Put yourself in their shoes and think about how their life will be different and tell them about it!

Whenever you talk about the problem you solve, how you solve it and then help someone envision a better life, you’ll be sure to capture their attention.

And that is the core of your verbal brand. When you consistently communicate these parts of your business, others will be attracted to you, remember you, and even talk about you to their friends.

So what does your verbal brand sound like?
